Radical Hott Off Notes: Calling out people is important but if you trigger the shit out of an abuse victim or someone with an anxiety or panic...
…the question is: where is there *any* room in the social justice swarm style calling out to respect “triggers”? When the very justification of social justice swarm style is the swarm has been triggered? also, admitting to being triggered requires you to be fairly…
—have been thinking about this a lot. and i realized that everyone has been traumatized in our society, to a greater or lesser extent. everyone has triggers. and the brain is funny, what it latches onto, what causes the physiological and psychological triggers is unpredictable.
so on a real level i cant know what is going to trigger another person. i just dont.
folks get triggered when i talk positively about motherhood.
or when i talk about racism.
or sexism.
or religion.
or just about any part of my life or experience.
so then what?
lets be honest, a lot of times a person doesnt know what is going to trigger them until it happens. the brain is really funny that way.
i dont know what the answer is, but i am becoming more and more wary of placing moral obligations on others for my psychological states. because in the end, only i can know what is going with me.
im not saying this in ‘super survivor’ way. i am just trying to be honest about what i can honestly expect from others.
